優れた銀の鋳造に鍍金を施したこの斧頭には、ふたつの鳥の頭を持つ悪魔がイノシシと竜に阻まれている様子が描かれています。イノシシの背の固い毛が刃先を成し(右上)、下部には木製の柄が取り付けられていた穴があります。素材が貴金属であることから、この武器は実用ではなく儀式用に作られたものと思われます。紀元前3千年紀後半から紀元前2千年紀初頭のバクトリア・マルギアナでは、イラン、メソポタミア、アナトリアなどとの贅沢品と実用品の交易により、裕福な都市文化が栄えました。
