スルタン・スレイマン大帝のトゥグラ

オスマン帝国の宮廷で高尚な芸術形態へと高められたトゥグラ(公式の署名)は、スルタン・スレイマン大帝(在位1520–66年)の花押として使われました。この様式化された署名は勅令に必ず押され、スルタン本人、その父親の名、そして「永久の勝者」の言葉から成る文字が複雑に組み合わされています。大胆で躍動感のある線と、繊細なツルの渦巻き模様の装飾が対照的です。この花押は長細い巻物の冒頭に押されたもので、金で書された最初の行が保存されています。
