受胎告知のタペストリー

装飾を凝らした部屋に座っている聖母マリアは、大天使ガブリエルが突然現れたことに驚き、書見台の書物から目を上げます。ガブリエルは、『めでたし、恵み深きマリアよ』の銘のある巻物を持っています。天上では父なる神が聖母に向けて十字架を抱えた幼子イエスを送り出し、聖霊の象徴であるハトが先導しています。彼らは聖母マリアの耳元に降り立ち、そこから体内に入り聖母が受胎したと信じられています。囲いのある庭がマリアの処女性を強調し、優美な陶器の壺に生けられた1本のユリが純潔を象徴しています。
