扉口

Workshop of Biduinus Italian

囚人の守護聖人、聖レオナルドに捧げられたこの扉口は、トスカーナ地方の小さなサン・レオナルド・アル・フリジド教会の正面玄関を飾っていました。扉の脇柱には、古代の石棺が再利用され、左には受胎告知と聖母のエリザベト訪問、右側には聖レオナルドが象徴としての囚人を抱えているところが彫られています。柱の横木にあるエルサレム入城は、初期キリスト教徒の墓にあったレリーフ彫刻を模して作られ、12世紀イタリアにおける古典への懐古を示しています。
