真の十字架』の聖遺物箱 (フィエスキー・モーガンの聖遺物容器)

『真の十字架』の破片を収めるために作られたこの箱の蓋には、キリストの受難の場面が描かれています。キリストが着ている紫色のコロビウム(袖なしの外衣)は、初期キリスト教の伝統を引き継ぐものです。直立の姿勢と見開いた目は死の克服を表し、両側では聖母マリアと神学者聖ヨハネが嘆いています。受難の場面の周りと箱の側面には、27人の聖人の胸像があります。また、蓋の裏面にはキリストの救済者としての役割を告げる受胎告知、キリストの降誕、受難、そしてキリストの冥府降下の4つの場面が描かれています。底面には、聖書の福音書の受難の物語になぞられたと思われる、書籍の表紙に似せた彫刻が施されています。
