This overly robust and massive ceramic sculpture—created by slip casting and assembling the various elements—riffs on Baroque and Rococo mantle clocks found in European royal chambers. Where a clock face might be, the chains (of time?) are left hanging. Where the "gilding" has lost its gloss, a brutal ironlike material emerges that is more suited to the spear shapes rising from the sides, suggesting an underlying arte et marte theme. Resurrection comments on the significance of historic presentation pieces commissioned to honor individuals and events that are now obscure.
