Was this the First Motion Picture?

Let’s roll back the tape to learn the history of the earliest moving images.
This video is part of MetKids Microscope, a series that explores the science behind the art at The Met.

Did a horse invent the movies? No, no, no… But alongside photographer Eadweard Muybridge, a horse played a huge part in the breakthrough that led to the first motion pictures! Let’s roll back the tape (or rewind the film) to learn the history of the earliest moving image.

Next, learn how to create a flip book to make your own silent film!
