Decorator Probably decorated by Thomas Tucker American
Manufacturer Tucker Factory American
1828–38
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 705
This pair (see also 1992.362.2) of ornamental vases recalls the popular French form in their classical ovoid shape and gilded caryatid handles. The finely painted views, in this case of European landscapes, were probably derived from prints or travel books of the time.
