많은 예술가와 시인들은 굽이치는 파도를포착하여 표현하려고 하였습니다. 오가타 코린의 파도 표현은 길고 불규칙한 거품의 촉수 여기저기 구멍이 나 이상하게 불길한 느낌을 줍니다. 한 손에 두 자루의 붓을 들고 그리는 중국 고대의 기법을 사용하여 먹으로 윤곽선을 그린 집게발 같은 파도는 무로마치 시대의 선승 화가 셋손 슈케이(1504년경–1589년경)의 작품에서 영감을 얻었을 것입니다. 병풍에는 코린이 1704년에 사용하기 시작한 이름인 도수의 낙관이 찍혀 있습니다.
