Folio from a Qur'an Manuscript

15th century
Not on view
In this folio from a Qur’an manuscript, a kufic line in gold leaf indicates the heading of Sura 10 (Sura Yunus) and the number of verses (109), while verses are written with a black ink in naskhi script. The end of a verse is marked by three gold reversed commas.

The styles of script are indicative of Mamluk Qur’an production in 15th century Egypt.
