Landscape with Two Sailing Boats
Drawn in sharply contrasting values, this pastel landscape recalls those of Claude Monet made half a century earlier. Guillaumin probably sketched this scene near Agay on the Cote d’Azur, a fishing town he visited intermittently for forty years beginning in 1887.
