공간의 새
브랑쿠시는 전 생애를 통해 새의 주제를 표현하였습니다. 공간의 새에서 작가는 새 자체보다는 비행의 본질을 포착하기 위해 집중하였습니다. 새의 날개와 세부 특징은 제거되었고 몸체의 불룩한 부분은 길게 표현되었으며 머리와 부리는 비스듬히 기울어진 타원형의 평면으로 환원되었습니다. 이 작품은 1940년까지 20년간 브랑쿠시가 몰두했던 일련의 작품 중 첫 번째 작품입니다. 그는 동일한 주제로 대리석 작품 7점과 청동 작품 9점을 제작하였습니다.
