아홉 개의 재키
1963년 11월 22일, 달라스에서 존 F. 케네디 대통령이 암살당한 직후 몇 주 동안 워홀은대중지에 게재된 미망인이 된 영부인의 사진을 수집하기 시작하였습니다. 1964년 맨해튼 이스트 7번가에 위치한 새 스튜디오(유명한 뉴욕 “공장” 중 최초)로 옮긴 후 워홀은 수집한 사진들을 바탕을 청색과 금색으로 채색한 작은 캔버스에 실크스크린으로 인화하기 시작하였습니다. 이 작품의 클로즈업 사진은 저격 직전의 순간을 재현하고 있습니다. 집요하게 반복되는 사진은 어디에서나 볼 수 있었던 매스컴의 보도와 비극적인 사건에 대한 대중의 집착을 부각시킵니다.
