알토 리코더
요한 베네딕트 간은 1698년 뉘른베르크에서 칼로 목재를 깎는 길드의 장인으로 손꼽히는 인물이었습니다. 1711년 사망할 때까지 악기제작 공방을 지속적으로 열었습니다. 리코더 16점과 상아 또는 화양목으로 만든 오보에가 현재까지 남아 있습니다. 이 작품과 같은 리코더 일부는 아칸서스 잎과 뉘른베르크가 연관되는 모티프인 가면 장식이 조각되어 있으며 이 장식은 다른 유명한 목관악기 제작자인 요한 빌헬름 오버렌더의 작품에서도 볼 수 있습니다. 이 리코더의 크기는1700년 이후 가장 선호되었습니다. 다루기는 어려웠지만 이 같은 코끼리 상아는 오랫동안 고급 악기의 재료로 사용되었습니다.
