«It's no surprise that the Met was mentioned in a recent New York Times article about New York City's child-friendly destinations. We enjoyed reading about how travel writer Francine Prose and her granddaughter Emilia "played tourist" at the Museum and chronicled their favorite child-friendly galleries and works of art.»

After viewing art from ancient Egypt through the Middle Ages, they felt the ever-popular Temple of Dendur and Arms and Armor galleries were big hits. Emilia, who is half Mexican, also loved the shining Central American gold jewelry, for which she felt cultural pride, in gallery 357. From there, it was only a quick walk over to gallery 354 to see the gigantic Asmat figures, which rounded out their visit.

Their experience at the Met as New York natives proves that locals and out-of-town visitors alike can find old favorites and new discoveries at the Museum.
