Terracotta pomegranate
Simple as this object may appear, it is noteworthy how the coroplast (modeler) has rendered the shape and conveyed the succulence of the fruit. It may have been a votive offering with special connotations in reference to Persephone. Her abduction by Hades was localized in Sicily, and her cult was important in Greek areas of Southern Italy.
