这扇玻璃窗与《摩西展示两块法版》（同样收藏在大都会博物馆）及其它五扇玻璃窗一起，曾装饰着圣菲尔曼的本笃会小修道院教堂，该教堂位于洛林地区的摩泽尔河畔弗拉维尼镇。小修道院院长瓦里·德·露西委托制作了这扇玻璃窗。其制作者梅斯市的瓦伦丁·布施是北方文艺复兴时期法国东北部最重要的玻璃工匠师傅之一。布施摒弃了传统的区隔法，而是将每件作品都视为一件绘制或雕刻的大型圣坛后饰屏，被框在以错视法画成的结构框架之内。彩色玻璃的明亮色调与透明玻璃上着色的灰色装饰图案和银绘相结合，全是以令人赞叹的精湛手艺切割而成的。
