このステンドグラスは、《十戒の石板を示すモーゼ》(当館蔵)及び他の5点のステンドグラスとともに、フランス・ロレーヌのフラヴィニー・シュル・モセルにあるベネディクト会サン・フィルマン教会小修道院の聖歌隊席の装飾として作られたものです。院長のワリー・ド・ルシーが制作を依頼したメッツ出身のバレンティン・ボッシュは、北方ルネッサンス時代のフランス北東部における最も優れたガラス工のひとりでした。彼は従来のように画面を区画化するのではなく、それぞれの構図をだまし絵(トロンプルイユ)の額縁の中に描かれた巨大な油彩もしくは祭壇の上部に置かれるレタブルム彫刻であるかのように表現しました。輝く色彩のガラスと、グリザイユと銀色に着色された透明ガラスが、優れた技術により大胆にカットされています。
