密西西比艺术家乔治·E·欧自封为“比洛克西的疯陶工”,他比后来陶器界的抽象表现主义早了几乎半个世纪。欧氏是位典型的艺术陶工,他挖自己的粘土,在转盘上精心制作出他的陶壶,上他自己的釉彩,并且在自己的窑里烧制。这只红色的陶茶壶代表了他在陶艺上采取的新颖、实验性的方式。他改变了传统茶壶的外形,把壶身往里推,又把壶柄捏起来,表达出一种独创性和与众不同,向当时中规中矩的陶器挑战。茶壶上起泡的红釉是一种异乎寻常的表面处理方式,更体现出欧氏的智巧。
