饰有神话巨蛇纹样的束腰外衣

古代秘鲁男性的主要装束就是束腰外衣,即一件未经裁剪的上衣,袖子可有可无,双肩处有垂直的袖孔,顶部脖颈处也有一道开口。这些束腰外衣展示出丰富多样的编织技术和纹样,以及炫目的色彩搭配。除了实际功用以外,这些衣服也表现出各人的民族属性、社会地位和宗教信仰。制作这件束腰外衣使用了一种挂毯编织法,就是纬线(水平的纱线)被紧紧下压,完全遮住经线(垂直的纱线)。大胆的图案描绘出两只神话中的巨蛇,它们曲折的身躯布满斑点,在衣服的接缝处彼此对看。两条蛇的头部硕大,眼睛呈双色,龇牙咧嘴,有腮须或触须,还有耳朵或鳍。目前的观点认为这件束腰外衣属于混合式风格,其中纳斯卡特征包括它的形状和编织工艺,但两只怪兽眼睛和牙齿的表现手法则是典型的瓦里风格。
