狮身酒器

在这件阿契美尼德时期的金器杰作中,狮子的前半身向后延展时优雅地变成一只酒杯。这类器皿可能是王室和仪式所用,在用贵重金属制作酒器的漫长历史中占有一席之地。这一咆哮的狮子造型是典型的阿契美尼德风格,其凶猛的特征因使用了传统的装饰式样而得以缓和。这件器皿由不露痕迹地焊接在一起的几个部分组成,体现出高超的工艺技术。酒器的上半部分饰有总长度达一百三十六英尺的曲线,形成了共四十四个等距线圈。狮子上颚大张,其上有细小的罗纹。
