在西方,“celadon(青瓷)”一词常用来描述上青釉的瓷器。在中国,不论是为本国消费还是为出口贸易而造的瓷器,通常都按窑址分类。此例中,生气勃勃的三条龙纹装饰着碗的内壁,其中一条龙的尾巴压在后爪之下,这是最早于公元前二世纪即活跃于浙江省的越窑的特征。从八世纪起直到十一世纪越窑停烧为止,越窑瓷器都是流传甚远的贸易品,向西最远至非洲都曾发现其身影。
