Antique lidded vase or flask with two thin braided handles. The braides are attached to male masks on the body of the vessel. The neck is decorated with acanthus leaves. The body of the vases is divided in four friezes, the top one with gadroons, the second frieze with a marble pattern, the third with garlands and rosettes and the bottom frieze with the same gadroons as on top. From a series of vase designs after the Antique, first published by Enea Vico in 1543, and later included in a composite series with other designs by Agostino Veneziano by Antonio Lafreri dated circa 1573 based on its presence in Lafreri’s catalogue.
