Not on view

Folded paper pattern for embroidery, part of a series of 12 that might have been part of a book of embroidery designs, possibly designed by Elvira Mary Courbould. This type of books would be purchased for women to engage in needlework activities and embroidery at the home, decorating a variety of textiles for interiors or to be used in the making of dresses for the members of the household. This plate, titled "First Half of Roses Curtain" contains a large bundle with scrolling branches with leaves and thorns and some stylized rosettes, which was meant to be embroidered onto a curtain.
