Etienne Delaune French

Not on view

Engraving, part of a series of oval prints with two theological virtues and the four cardinal virtues, represented by women standing on landscapes, created by Étienne Delaune possibly around 1576. This print represents Fortitude, wearing a draped dress, leaning with her left elbow on a column. Behind her is Hercules killing the Nemean lion, on the right, and on the left a tree stands framing a town in the background.
