Two Heads (studies from Lavater)

Style of Thomas Rowlandson British

Not on view

Study of two male heads. In the foreground a male wearing a rose-colored coat looks back over his shoulder with an opened mouth; next to him is a man wearing a terre-verde colored coat holds his right index finger to his lips. The studies are based on John Caspar Labvater's "Essays on Physiognomy," with these studies taken primarily from images in volume III, part 2.
