Guido Reni Italian
After Parmigianino (Girolamo Francesco Maria Mazzola) Italian

Not on view

On folio 20 with one other print: 27.78.1(100)
For more information on the Wilton album see entry for 27.78.1(1-428)
Not described by Bartsch, the print was recognized by Zani as being Guido Reni's copy of Parmigianino's print, an attribution accepted by Birke. Mariette knew this print but did not attribute it to Reni. On the verso of another impression in The Metropolitan Museum (27.78.2(292), Mariette Album folio 4), Mariette wrote 'je crois que c'est d'apres cette estampe que Le Guide a grave la sienne qui est a mon avis encor plus belle et tournee a gauche'. Following Oberhuber most scholars now accept that Parmigianino made two versions of this deisgn (B.XVI.8.5 and B.XVIII.300.46), one of which (B.XVIII.300.46) was formerly attributed to Reni
