Handkerchief, Portrait of William McKinley
This mourning handkerchief commemorates President McKinley's assassination at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York 1901. The 1899 date printed on the handkerchief reflects the copyright for the cyanotype process, but the date of the handkerchief itself is 1901 or after. The flags in the boarder signify the participating nations in the Pan-American Exposition.
