Petticoat
This petticoat is an example of the variations of functional warm petticoats that were worn by girls and women in the early twentieth century. Incorporating silk into the wool yarn makes it an expensive piece that was meant to be worn for special occasions. Additionally, the decoration at the bottom of the petticoat was meant to be seen and is another indication that this was not an undergarment worn for simple, mundane activities.
