This turban helmet is inscribed with the name of the sultan Ya'qub of the Aq Quyunlu (White Sheep Turkoman), who ruled from 1478 to 1490.
Inscription: Inscribed: "Glory to our lord the sultan...the greatest khaqan (Turkish for sultan or khan) abu al-Mu'azzam and king...(?)..., kings of the West (?) and the Persians; Sultan,..."

Marking: Stamped with the Constantinople armory mark.
