Right Arm of a Statue
Tomb 828 is an early Middle Kingdom located the cemetery known as el-Khokha in the Theban necropolis. In spite of the fact that the tomb was looted in ancient times, a number of interesting objects were found during the Museum's excavations in 1911. These included the remains of a standing statue of a man that was originally about 20 inches in height. The right arm (15.10.98a, b) is made in two sections and the clenched fist holds part of a staff. There are the remains of red paint on the hand, and traces of a painted bracelet may be seen on the wrist. The forepart of a right foot (15.10.97), also with preserved red paint, probably belongs to the same statue.
