A Scottish gamekeeper sits on an upturned barrel in a cottage and smokes, his feet on a pile of dead game as a girl brings him a steaming bowl. There are dogs at center and crockery and vegetables at left. A woman cooks over an open fire in the background. Based on a painting exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1831, the British Institution in 1832 and the Art Treasures Exhibition, Manchester in1857.
