Landseer shows two dogs chasing a frog near a riverbank as a man fishes in the distance at right. This etching comes from a set of seventeen that E. Gambart & Co. initially published in the 1820s then reissued in 1848. Born in Belgium, Ernest Gambart moved to Paris and then London. He soon established his own publishing house and dealership, developing fruitful relationships with many leading artists of the Victorian era and became a British citizen in 1846.
