The Prize Calf
A barefoot girl leads a prize calf across a brook, accompanied by a dog. The calf has a paper tied to its forehead that reads "No 1 / Prize Calf". Behind the figures there is a landscape containing cows, sheep, a rustic couple and a lake or loch. The print is based on a picture that Landseer exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1859.
