Bas-Relief of Amir Hasan Hunting on Horseback

Armenian

Not on view

The portrait of Amir Hasan hunting is from the south wall of the church of the White Virgin, which he completed in 1321 after its foundation by his father, Prince Each‘i Proshian. With his round cheeks, almond-shaped eyes, and Mongol dress, he looks much like other princely portraits from Mongol-era Armenia, especially that of his father on the reliquary of the "Holy Cross of Vegetarians" (Khotakerats‘), on view nearby in this gallery.
