Not on view

This image of Saints Peter and Paul was added to this manuscript written and ornamented with traditional Armenian decoration in the Cilician capital of Sis. The artist, possibly trained in Italy, worked in the style of the Italian artist Giotto as seen in the realistic details and voluminous robes. Images like this one often symbolized a commitment to unification with Rome, a goal of some of the ruling elite of Cilicia at this time.
