This book cover depicts the main rites of ordination performed by the Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilicia. On the front is the consecration and anointment of a catholicos with the Holy Chrism; on the back, a catholicos, holding the arm reliquary of Saint Gregory the Illuminator, consecrates the Holy Chrism. Holy Chrism is made from forty ingredients and prepared once every seven years in an important ceremony in Armenia.
