Design for window
Not on view
This design drawing does not retain any identifying information about its patron or possible location. Its rectangular shape is consistent with the form most commonly seen in mausoleum windows, as opposed to an arched or lancet shape found in church windows. The armor-cladded angel is accompanied by traditional symbols of victory, including the flaming torch, laurel wreaths, and palm branches strewn on the stairs. The scene represents triumph over death—an appropriate and hopeful subject for a mausoleum window.
