Plate with two deer amid flowers

China

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 220

Ding ware white porcelain is one of the most cherished ceramic types in China. This plate was impressed with a premade mold before the firing. Its delicate pattern of two deer galloping amid a floral ground enhances its visual appeal.
