Hair Ornament

Not on view

A limited number of jewels from medieval Iran have survived the remelting of precious metals carried on throughout the centuries. Cylindrical ornaments for preserving a lock of hair have a long history in this geographical area, beginning in the pre-Islamic period, and were maintained in traditional Middle Eastern costumes.
