Not on view

Inspired by a fable by Jean de la Fontaine's fable, the image shows a monkey grasping a cat and using its paw to knock roasting nuts from a hot stove, making the cat howl in pain. There are kittens in a basket on a chest behind. Based on a painting exhibited at the British Institution in 1824.
