Vase
This vase is part of a pair that feature two views of the New York City region copied from a portfolio of prints entitled "Views in New York and Its Environs" (1831–34). This vase, entitled "Elysian Fields, Hoboken," portrays a New Jersey park located directly opposite New York City that became a popular spot in the early nineteenth century. The other (17.144.2) shows lower Manhattan seen from the East River side of Governor's Island.
