Appearing at the bottom left, the artist and sarkawag (deacon) Hakob of Julfa paints himself kneeling barefoot with his hands raised in prayer toward Ezekiel’s vision of the Great Cross, which exuberantly fills the page. The turbaned miniaturist presents the vision as a pair of crosses, each containing the bust of Christ. Angels appear between the arms of both crosses with outspread wings that extend beyond the frame of the miniature.
