In the mid-nineteenth century, Cree and Ojibwa women made elongated wool hoods for personal use in travel, church, and special occasions. The design typically comprised three panels of complex floral motifs, embroidered with multicolored glass beads, as well as fringes of patterned beads—as seen in this striking example.
