Rastrelliera per teschi
Per i Kerewa della Nuova Guinea sudorientale, che anticamente erano stati cacciatori di teste, l’agiba (rastrelliera per teschi) era il più importante oggetto sacro; di forma piatta in legno intagliato era usato per mettere in mostra i teschi umani, appesi alle sporgenze della base. Si dice che ciascun agiba rappresentasse uno spirito apparso in sogno allo scultore. Un tempo gli uomini Kerewa vivevano in grandi dimore comuni in cui ogni clan o sotto-clan disponeva di uno spazio separato con un sacrario contenente una o più agiba ed altri oggetti sacri. Fungendo da custodi di tutti i teschi conquistati dai membri del clan, le agiba simboleggiavano la forza e il potere del clan.
