Brocca traforata con arpie e sfingi

Dotato di un involucro esterno intagliato e traforato che riveste il contenitore interno compatto, questo elaborato oggetto di ceramica vuole emulare un vaso di metallo. Arpie (mitiche donne-uccello), sfingi, quadrupedi e volute sono raffigurate nel corpo traforato che venne prima dipinto con tocchi di nero e blu cobalto. Successivamente l’intera brocca fu ricoperta con smalto turchese trasparente. I versi in lingua persiana che corrono intorno all’orlo furono composti dal poeta Rukn al-Din Qummi, mentre vicino alla base un poema anonimo di soggetto amoroso riporta la data di fabbricazione.
