フランス国王ルイ14世の治世で最も人気を博した家具職人のブールは、1708年にヴェルサイユの大トリアノン宮殿の国王の寝室用として、コモード(整理ダンス)を2台製作しました。当時新たに考案されたコモードとテーブルを組み合わせたこれらの新種のタンスには、宮廷の製図師ジャン・ベランがデザインしたローマの石棺の形状を反映したふたつの特徴的な引き出しがついています。底部は脚以外に4本の螺旋形の円錐で支えられています。コモードは18世紀フランスで最も注文の多かった調度品のひとつでした。この作品は、ブールの工房の初期の作品と思われます。
