葬送儀礼の美術の出色の作例であるこの石棺は、おそらく裕福な死者のためにローマで彫られたものだと思われます。側面と前面には40を超える人物と動物の像が高浮彫りで表されています。中心にはディオニュソスがヒョウに乗り、左から冬、春、夏、秋の四季を象徴する4人の人物に挟まれています。これら5人の中心人物の周りには、他にバッカスに関連する人物や儀式の品がすべて縮小されて彫られています。丸い両端には、大地と水を人格化したものなど、別の大きな人物のグループが表されています。
