神話のヘビのある上着

古代ペルーの男性の主な衣類は仕立てられていない上着でした。袖付きまたは袖なしのものがあり、肩には縦に開いた袖ぐりと、上部には首を通す切れ目がありました。現存するこの時代の上着は、織り方、柄、そして色彩において変化に富んでいます。これらは実用的なだけでなく、民族、社会的地位、宗教を表現するものでした。この上着は、緯糸(横糸)をきつく詰めることで経糸(縦糸)をまったく見えなくするタペストリー織の技法で織られています。斑点のあるジグザグの体をした2 匹の神話上のヘビが上着の継ぎ目で対面するという大胆な図柄です。ヘビは頭が大きく、二色の目、剝き出た歯、髭または触鬚、耳またはヒレを持っています。この種の上着は、現在では異なる伝統を受け継いだ衣服だと考えられています。上着の形と織り方にはナスカ族の特徴が見られ、ヘビの目と歯の表現は、ワリ族の典型的な様式です。
