山水詩画

明朝の滅亡後、隠遁者の龔賢は、清朝(1644–1911年)の支配下で、遺された臣民、つまり「遺民」としての立場を甘受しました。この作品は、明朝の旧首都である南京周辺の彼のお気に入りの場所を、隠遁者の住処と比べた絵を集めた折本の1帖です。高潔な者の象徴である蘭が冬の寒さに耐えることができるのに対し、徳のない者を指すイバラは薪として使われる、という内容の詩を隠居所の絵に添えています。龔賢は、完成された水墨画の技法と点描によって密度と透明さの両方を表現することに成功しています。
